The Witcher, Cowboy Bebop And More! Recapping Today's Netflix Announcement
ICYMI, Tudum is Netflix's big fan event which is going on today. They announced a whole bunch of stuff, but this is these are the big hitters:
1. Cowboy Bebop (Teaser)
The series focuses on the adventures of a ragtag group of bounty hunters chasing down criminals across the solar system
Cowboy Bebop is one of the greatest animes ever made. For those of you that never watched it, it was basically Mandalorian before the Mandalorian. There are definitely a few questions on how this, especially where Ed is. To me, I don't mind if Ed got the axe. Mostly because the true star of the show is Ein. I think this trailer looked great, especially since this series already had an uphill battle to match the very stylish original version. I need to see a true trailer in a bad way, but I'm very much in right now.
2. Army of Thieves (trailer)
In this prequel to "Army of the Dead," a mysterious woman recruits bank teller Dieter to assist in a heist of impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.
Personally, I did not think Dieter was particularly interesting. In fact, I'd say he's more annoying than anything. BUT, I really liked how Snyder was given the green light to go crazy and do weird shit in Army of the Dead, so if he gets to bring that same energy to this, I'M IN.
3. The Witcher Season 2 (new clip)
I liked a ton about the first season of the Witcher, but it was also a bit hard to follow as a fan of the video games that never read the books. I'm really excited to see more of the series, though, as Henry Cavil really loved the character and is a perfect fit for the character of Geralt. Really funny lines, great action and plenty of hot sex. What more could you want? Also, the witcher animated series recently ate shit for messing with Vesemir's look, but he looks fantastic in this version.
4. Don't Look Up (new clip)
Two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth
Full blog here. I liked the trailer, but this clip definitely tempered my expectations. I don't think these lines were particularly funny, at least not to Adam McKay's standard. It's just one scene, though, so no need to panic.
5. Extraction 2
Ok so obviously Tyler Rake, a name you all remember, was going to survive. In fact, I'm surprised more pople didn't see this coming! He's a badass aussie merc who survived getting hit by a car, stabbed and worse! No way something as simple as a bullet to the neck was going to take him down. Anyway, I thought extraction was great fun and featured some very well shot fight sequences. I hope they can maybe simplify the storyline for this sequel, because that was a little critique for me in the first one.
Cobra Kai was such a pleasant surprise, and I think more people should be watching it. I'm by no means a Karate Kid superfan, but this story is just compelling and the characters are damn funny!
